TORONTO (June 5, 2018) – Go big or go home! In celebration of Canada Day, LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Toronto is attempting to secure the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest LEGO® Brick Flag by building a massive 20-by-10-foot Canadian flag at the attraction from Monday, June 25 to Thursday, June 28. Additionally, LEGO® Canada will be at Vaughan Mills mall on June 28 inspiring visitors to create patriotic LEGO® builds, with a parallel online contest launching June 27.

Led by Canada’s only LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre’s Master Model Builder, Noel Straatsma, the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt will consist of nearly 250,000 bricks, 8 builders, and countless hours of preparation. Following the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt, the record-breaking, 500-kilogram (1,100 lb.) flag will be hosted at the attraction for guests to marvel in.

“It’s an honour to celebrate Canada Day by recreating and amplifying the ultimate Canadian symbol,” said Noel Straatsma, Master Model Builder, LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Toronto. “We’re proud to be a part of history, and for guests to enjoy the flag in our attraction for years to come.”

Canadians from far and wide can join the historic moment by submitting photos of their Canadian-inspired LEGO® builds for a chance to win a LEGO® prize pack. Submissions open online on June 27 and close July 2. LEGO® Canada will also be at Vaughan Mills mall on June 28 helping visitors create patriotic LEGO® builds.

As well, visitors can be a part of the experience by engraving their name into a LEGO® brick for just $2, which will be showcased on a plaque near the colossal flag. All proceeds will be donated to child-focused charity, Merlin’s Magic Wand.

The existing GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest LEGO® Brick Flag is held by Oman Avenues Mall, in Oman, for a 7-by-13 ft. flag built in 2017.

General admission tickets are available online now from a discounted rate of $18. Children two and under are free.
